About This Site
Oklahoma Smokers (oksmokers.com) does not advocate or encourage the use of tobacco products. This site does however support the right of adults to use tobacco products and their right to obtain information regarding the purchase and use of tobacco products. It also supports the rights of tobacco users to obtain information on those businesses in Oklahoma which are tobacco friendly and provide accomodations for tobacco users.
As of March 1, 2006 Oklahoma restaurants are required by law to either be totally non-smoking or to provide physically separated and environmentally isolated areas for smokers and non-smokers. There is no option under to the law for a restaurant to be ‘totally smoking’ and state government is encouraging all restaurants to adopt a ‘totally non-smoking’ policy. To this end the law imposes both onerous physical and environmental conditions upon those businesses wishing to provide a ’smoking section’. Conditions which the vast majority of Oklahoma restaurants can not meet owing to physical limitations, financial limitations or both. Conditions which leave the restaurant operators no choice but to operate a totally non-smoking business.
While Oklahoma Smokers does sympathize with business owners that were forced, in spite of their wishes, to adopt a totally non-smoking policy we also wish to commend, acknowledge and support those businesses which paid the price to maintain accomodations for smokers. Business operators who not only stood up for their rights, but for the rights of their tobacco using clientle. Business owners that not only deserve the financial support of tobacco users but who rely upon that support to maintain their ’smoking sections’ and their businesses.
To achieve this goal Oklahoma Smokers maintains a listing of those Oklahoma businesses which still welcome tobacco users and provide accomodations for them. It is the hope of the operator of this site that our readers will keep these business in mind as they decide where to spend their money, for these business owners have already spent their money to accomodate Oklahoma’s tobacco users.
The listing of ‘Smoker Friendly’ businesses maintained on oksmokers.com will be updated as new data becomes available. If you are aware of a business providing accomodations for tobacco users and that business is not in our listing please take the time to e-mail us and let us know. By the same token, if we list a business as providing accomodations for tobacco users and that is not the case, we need to know that also.
