Current law allows restaurants 2 options: Install expensive modifications for a smoker friendly area in their business, or operate a totally non smoking business.

Legislation has been introduced to give owners of restaurnats a third option: Operate a totally smoker friendly business:

HB1322, by Rep. John Auffet, D-Stilwell, authorizes the presence of lighted tobacco in restaurants in which smoking is allowed in the entire enclosed indoor space. The measure requires such restaurants to post signs at each entrance notifying patrons of the smoking status. The effective date of this bill is 11/01/2007 without an emergency clause. The current status of this bill is Assigned to Subcommittee (H-Public Health, Health) taken on 02/13/2007

These are the members of that Committee:

Representative Adkins, Dennis

Representative Banz, Gary

Representative Dank, David

Representative Enns, John

Representative Gilbert, Darrell

Representative Glenn, Larry

Representative Hamilton, Rebecca

Representative Hilliard, Wes

Representative McDaniel, Jeannie

Representative Piatt, Greg

Representative Smithson, Glen Bud

Representative Steele, Kris

Representative Terrill, Randy

Representative Watson, Weldon

I was looking for other sites that talked about smoking, though from a different perspective. I came across yours and found the writing very clever. I live near Dallas--and they've banned smoking in all restaurants. My town is trying to do that, too. I can see your point as well.
